WELCOME TO HARPER'S NEWSLETTER, DECEMBER, 04

Hello all,

It was a long flight from Detroit airport to Melbourne, Australia.  We stopped in Phoenix, LA and Auckland, New Zealand before finally arriving home. Changing hemispheres can be a bit rough on the body, but after doing it so many times now, it seems almost normal. It’s officially summer now in Australia & we are enjoying the warm weather and the incredible surf!! The only drawback is that we are still in drought and have been so for many years. It’s always nice to experience an Australian summer, in Melbourne it’s  a dry heat and it usually rains when the temperature gets too hot. .  For all those in the USA, I hope you all had a great Thanks Giving.

I am happy to announce that I’ve just sighed a three album deal with Blind Pig Records , one of the largest Blues/Gospel labels in the world. I will be releasing a new CD in mid May, 2005, which is pretty exciting. I am the only foreign artist on the label & I  am joining some great company: Coco Montoya, Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers, Tommy Castro, Renee Austin, E. C Scott, Jimmy Thackery, Big Bill Morganfield and many more. Ed from Blind Pig came to see the band and I at the Boom Boom Room in San Francisco in late September. The very last week of the tour.  He must have dug the new material for not too long after, I received the good news. Im so happy to be on this great label and Im sure it will be a long and lasting relationship.   So its a lot more writing for me and some recording later this month.

.The month of November saw a bit of touring here in Australia. A few shows in Melbourne, at my favorite St Andrews Hotel and the Lomond Hotel and a short visit to the Sleepy Hollow Blues Club. Then it was down to Tasmania for a week, which is always fun.  I will be doing the Forth Blues Festival in March in Tasmania, Ive heard great things about the festival. At the end of the month I headed to Sydney for the Sydney Blues Festival. I caught up with Fiona Boyes, The Satellites, Jim Conway and many other great players. It was a fantastic event which I will hope will run for many years to come. Coming up this month for all you Melbournites is a special show at The Spiegeltent at the Victorian Arts Centre on Saturday December  18 at 7pm featuring my superb band. The Spiegeltent  is a stunning Victorian style auditorium that is the most amazing tent you are ever likely to see. For tickets bookings: www.Ticketmaster7.com or Tel: 1300 136 166 and all Ticketmaster7 outlets including the on-site box office. It is my last show of the year and I hope you all can spend it with me and the band. I wish you all the best for the festive season and may 2005 be a year of peace and prosperity for all.
So until then. All the best, Harper
